Writer Retreat

This blog post is a participant of The Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It is a chance to share news. This post recaps the past week, showcases books and things I have received, and shares news about what is coming up for the week on my blog.

I didn’t watch any movies this week. I just got back from an eight-hour drive to New Orleans for a week-long writer’s retreat. It was the ultimate creative refresh. I actually finished a book, and got more editing and rewriting progress done on the second Tootsie book!

I stayed with a group of other writers in a old, rustic French-style bed and breakfast. We networked, socialized, played games, and of course, got a lot of writing done. I love writer retreats. I always get inspired once it’s all over.

It was nice to see the city again. I haven’t been back in several years. I didn’t do much sightseeing, unlike the other writers in the group, but I did try out some of the local cuisines. I have a newfound love for boudin sausage, and now I want to learn how to make my own.

New Orleans has a darker side, which makes for a great noir story setting. I already have some ideas brewing for the fourth Tootsie book. It will most likely be this year’s NaNoWriMo project.
